Mammography — a key to your health

Mammography is the most basic breast care need for prevention and early detection, especially in women over 40. The American Cancer Society recommends mammograms once a year starting at 40 to assure optimal breast health.

At the Wellspring Breast Center, we’ll make it a more comfortable experience. You’ll receive your results promptly,* so you don’t have to spend hours — or days — wondering about the outcome. We also offer ultrasound breast imaging, clinical breast exams, and extensive education about breast self-exams. And if there is a problem or concern, we will work with you through the next steps, whatever you decide they should be. What’s more, we’ll provide you with access to some of the area’s leading specialists, so you can make more informed decisions about your care.

* For diagnostic mammograms, results are provided immediately. In most cases, screening mammogram results are available promptly after comparison films are available. Please bring your most recent mammogram films (or arrange for them to be sent to Wellspring) so diagnostic results can be reported promptly.

Breast Specialist Team
A breast specialist team, made up of a radiologist and surgeon, is available to provide examinations, diagnostic testing and treatment as needed. If a biopsy is necessary, the team will provide options, immediate scheduling and support through the entire process. We strive to provide peace of mind by bringing knowledgeable specialists and the latest technology together in one location.

Multidisciplinary Team
If treatment is needed, a knowledgeable and supportive team of physicians is assembled, including some of the area’s leading specialists in pathology, radiology, surgery, plastic surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology. This team is coordinated by a nurse case manager, who can help secure prompt access to the appropriate team specialists. This unique approach eliminates multiple visits and provides information to make better, more informed decisions. Appointments that take weeks or even months in typical breast care treatment arrangements are reduced to days.

Emotional Needs
At Wellspring, there is even more to breast care. Support groups with the American Cancer Society provide a caring, honest environment to share experiences with those undergoing similar treatment. Individual and family counseling can also address your changing roles, needs and concerns along with the needs of those closest to you.

Physical Therapy
Proper stretching and strengthening activities are critical after any kind of surgery. Exercise classes, personalized exercise plans, and every- day helpful hints will help you make a rapid, complete recovery and get you back doing the things you like to do the most.

Prosthetics
If you decide that reconstruction is not the best option, we can work with you to find comfortable, natural looking prosthetics. We offer clothing to fit your various lifestyle needs and concerns. We also address the important issues of both body image and self-confidence.

Augmentation
At the Wellspring Breast Center, we realize that augmentation is an emotional as well as a physical issue, whether it is done after surgery or for cosmetic reasons. A plastic surgeon will work with you to provide the information you need to make an informed decision. Wellspring also provides the physical and psychological care needed during the recovery phase.

Reduction
Like augmentation, reduction is a personal decision. It may be made for cosmetic reasons or medical related issues, such as back pain. Either way, the Wellspring Breast Center will provide you with the informational and emotional resources you need. Plus, your doctors will be there to provide follow-up care and to answer all of your questions.
